My favorite children's letters to Holly

I'm 16 and I re-read the Legend of Holly Claus every christmas. Not just because it is an amazing fairy tale, but because it reminds me about the important things in life: dreams faith and love. It restores my faith in magic and freewill, and something greater than ourselves and love. This book makes me not so afraid to grow up.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this classic book that is a part of my life forever!

Merry Christmas !

"Merry Christmas!" Holly called. She leaned over the edge of the sleigh and two tears dropped into the air. The two drops quivered slightly and turned to snow. They hung in the air for a moment and then they spiraled down to the waiting earth. 

The Legend of Holly Claus awakens the true spirit of christmas in each of us. Like A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, it is part of the folklore and pays a tribute to the real, original meaning of christmas. 

The true spirit of the season is about others' wishes and how we can make them come true, it's about being generous, and getting over bitterness to share kindness and happiness with people. Christmas is about  the power of giving, a thought, a present, a symbol of your love, a smile...

"Joyeux Noël!" lance Holly. Elle se penche sur le bord du traîneau et deux larmes tombent dans l'air. Les deux gouttes tremblent légèrement et se transforment en deux flocons de neige. Ils restent suspendus en l'air pendant un moment, puis tournoient vers la terre.

La légende de Holly Claus éveille le véritable esprit de Noël en chacun de nous. Tout comme Un Chant de Noël de Charles Dickens, elle fait partie du folklore et rend hommage au sens réel de Noël.

Le véritable esprit de la saison est la réalisation des rêves de chacun et d'autrui, il s'agit d'être généreux, de mettre de côté notre amertume et de partager le bonheur tous ensemble. Noël, c'est le pouvoir de donner, une pensée, un cadeau, un symbole de son amour, un sourire, même... ou tout simplement un:

Creating a magical and inspiring world for our children is my life's mission. A world where children will believe in their dreams...as we inspire them. I love awakening the childhood innocence in all people, for that is where are greatest discoveries will happen. Please I ask you to honor the children that have been lost this week in Connecticut, I ask you all to reach out with true acts of kindness to your family, friends and to strangers on the street. Have a heart of forgiveness for people who have disappointed you. A 14 year old boy Marc Andre from Quebec Canada wrote to Holly Claus recently. These are his simple words that I think about everyday. "Your story Holly show us that the smallest act of kindness could bring us a world of peace."

The power of letters

Christopher's letter to santa

We've all heard of the story of Virgina O'Hanlon, and her letter to the newspaper The Sun, " is there a Santa Claus?" . The editiorial which contained the response from the newspaper, entitled "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus", has become so popular that it is now a part of the american christmas folklore, and the famous sentence even part of american idiomatic expressions, as a way to ensure someone that something is true.

In The Legend of Holly Claus, the christmas classic novel, Christopher writes a letter, too. 

Now in his letter, Christopher doesn't ask IF Santa is real, but, since he is, what HE wants for christmas. I think Christopher's letter should become part of the folklore as well, as a sort of sequel to Virginia's. Let the two children represent the children of the world and the tradition of Christmas !

Nous avons tous entendu parler de l'histoire de Virignia O'Hanlon, et de sa lettre au journal The Sun, "Y a-t-il un Père Noël ?". Le mot de l'éditeur, qui contenait la réponse du journal, appelé "Oui Viriginia, il y a bien un Père Noël", est devenu si populaire qu'il fait maintenant partie du folklore de Noël américain, et la célèbre phrase est devenue une expression américaine bien connue, comme un moyen d'assurer l'authenticité de quelque chose à quelqu'un. 

Dans La Légende de Holly Claus, le roman classique de Noël, le petit Christopher écrit lui aussi une lettre.

Mais dans la sienne, Christopher ne demande pas SI le Père Noël existe, mais ce que LUI veux pour Noël!

Je pense que cette lettre devrait entrer dans le folklore aussi, comme une sorte de suite à celle de Virginia. Que Christopher et Virginia puissent représenter les enfants du monde entier et la tradition de Noël !

Nadiya a fait cette peinture à seulement 12 ans. Holly Claus inspire les enfants et éveille les rêves de tous. Nadiya écrit: " sur mon livre d'enfance préféré La légende de Holly Claus, j'ai mélangé les deux couvertures et je suis arrivée à ça. "

" Sofya fastened a small and intricately designed locket around the child's neck. Then she kissed her soft cheeks. "I did not know that you would be needing this so soon, my Holly. Stored within this locket is a secret that belongs to the elders. You must never open it but wear it always. It will keep you safe and guard you all your days. This locket is a symbol of the secret we all guard in ourselves. We are born with what we need to go through our lives, no matter how hard or overwhelming things seems to be sometimes. You might lose yourself in times of discouragement and solitude, but you can't forget that life put whatever you need to be inspired, strong, courageous, and amibitious. Find that secret deep inside you and cherish it like Holly will cherish her locket.

Ce médaillon est un symbole du secret que nous portons tous en nous. Nous sommes nés avec ce dont nous avons besoin pour vivre notre vie, qu'importe que la vie nous semble accablante et dure parfois. On peut être submergé, découragé, seul - l'important c'est qu'il ne faut pas oublier que la vie nous a offert tout ce qu'il faut pour être fort, inspiré, courageux, ambitieux. Il faut trouver ce secret en soi, et le chérir comme Holly chérira son médaillon.

" Dans le Royaume de l'Éternité, le premier flocon de neige était toujours d'argent. Père Noël le regarda tourbilloner et tournoyer depuis les cieux. This week at school, I was asked to write about relationships that change people's lives in my language class. I didn't have to seek for ideas very long... it corresponded really well with my experience with Brittney for Holly Claus ! talking about something I am involving myself into right now let me be sincere and express myself with confidence (a Julie Andrews song again...). 
As a matter of fact, I had a very nice week. I was rewarded for me efforts, my doubts were erased, my problems solved. I talked about my work with Brittney Ryan to my friends and family, who gave me positive and encouraging responses. It comforted me to see they enjoyed hearing about my experience and my dream to inspire people around me. 
I hope this message will reach you and that you can find confidence and share your feelings with your folks !

Cette semaine, j'ai dû écrire à propos de rencontres qui changent la vie pour mon cours de littérature anglaise. Je n'ai pas eu besoin de chercher très longtemps... ça correspondait parfaitement avec mon expérience aux côtés de Brittney pour Holly Claus ! parler de quelque chose que je suis en train de vivre et dans quoi je m'implique m'a permis d'être sincère et de m'exprimer avec confiance. 
J'ai passé une très bonne semaine d'ailleurs, sur tous les plans. J'ai vu mes efforts récompensés, mes doutes effacés, mes soucis arrangés. J'ai parlé de mon travail avec Brittney Ryan à mes amis, ma famille, qui ont eu des réactions très positives et encourageantes. Ca m'a confortée de voir que mon entourage pouvait apprécier que je leur parle de mon expérience et de mon rêve d'inspirer les gens autour de moi. 
J'espère que mon message sera bien reçu et que vous pourrez faire de même, trouver la confiance, et partager vos émotions avec vos proches !
